About the New TSP Ticker

Today, GovExec.com debuts the revamped TSP Ticker on our home page. We have updated the Ticker in an effort to provide the most useful information to Thrift Savings Plan investors and to reflect the creation of the new L Funds, the TSP's automatically rebalanced life-cycle investment vehicles.

Previously, the TSP Ticker tracked the performance of the TSP's stock funds - the C, S and I funds--using daily published figures for the three indexes that the funds track. Now we will track the individual share prices for each of the funds (including the G, F and L Funds), which are updated by the TSP Board each evening. In addition, we will show the daily change in each fund's share price and provide a running tally of the percentage change for the current month.

We also will continue to provide monthly returns for the TSP funds.

For more information about the TSP, visit the TSP Web site, especially its frequently asked questions section.

COMMENTS

  • Please give consideration to adding a few more funds to provide more variety and diversity within the TSP. I would like to see a fund that tracks the Precious Metals sector, one that covers real estate and natural resources, one for utilities and infrastructure, and one for high-quality global bonds, preferably Swiss franc bonds. This would round out the TSP nicely and make it an even better place for our hard-earned money during inflationary times, good times, a recession, and even a depression. It would also be helpful to have the actual TSP funds charted like those on YahooFinance and elsewhere. These charts are incredibly helpful in watching the upward and downward trends, but there are no charts that track these TSP funds. The Daily figures and monthly percentages are much more helpful than before, but only give a very small picture. Please give this your consideration. Thanks.
  • I put everything into G because all funds are hitting rock bottom in 2008! It has already started.
  • I invest on G, C, S and I funds. I love the information you have been providing regarding the TSP. Everyday, I check whether my investments went up or down. Any addt'l. info. will be well received. Thank you very much guys for an excellent job. You make my life much, much easier in determining where to invest and what percentage I should invest in each fund. More power to you!
