Top Defense Department officials confirmed they have withdrawn the nomination of Rear Adm. Elizabeth Hight to be the next director of the Defense Information Systems Agency because of a perceived conflict of interest with her husband, who works for a major Defense contractor.

  • Probably would be best to get an outsider to run DISA. DISA is largely considered to be incompetent by other agencies within the DoD. DISA is more concerned with setting up procedural roadblocks rather than accomplishing anything.
  • This is a shame. Adm. Hight is an extremely competent leader, down to earth, and actually has a sense of humor when compared to other senior leaders. This is a sad day for DISA and the DoD.
  • I agree with avoiding potential conflicts, or appearances thereof, but I don't understand the logic..... It is NOT deemed problematic for Rear Adm. Hight to continue service as the DISA Deputy Director, but serving as the Director is an issue???
