From Nextgov.com: Senate derails Hight's nomination as DISA director
The Senate apparently sidelined on Tuesday the nomination of Rear Adm. Elizabeth Hight as head of the Defense Information Systems Agency because her husband works for a major Defense contractor, according to sources including the Defense Department.

- This is nothing - do you know that retired generals participate in "retired generals meetings" where they are privy to sensitive information concerning upcoming DoD projects and initiatives? Many of these generals also work for defense contractors. I can't think of a more conflict of interest than this, but this happens and is apparently legal. To me it is "insider information" and gives their companies an unfair advantage. Everybody knows this but still it goes on. Anonymous Posted June 22, 2008 9:16 AM
- This is unfortunate since Hight is very qualified for the job and has done a great job at DISA. She just simply has to avoid business decisions involving her husband's company per the ethics rules and let those decisions be made by an independent party. This is how it is done in the Executive Corps. Another case of a talented individual not being able to lead DISA into the future. Ethics Watch Posted June 21, 2008 8:30 AM
- Someone owes the Admiral a big apology. To assume that she would show favoritism to Northrop Grumman because of her husband is just plain wrong. She has done nothing to warrant this attack. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Just because Bush nominated her is no reason to drum up these phony reasons to exclude a talented person from a job she deserves.
